Abstract : Nasal drug delivery - It has had a revival after being practised for thousands of years. It is a helpful technique of administering medications, such as proteins and peptides, which are effective at low doses and have no minimal oral bioavailability. One of the factors contributing to the low level of protein and peptide absorption through the nasal route is the mucociliary clearance mechanism's quick removal of substances from the absorption site in the nasal cavity. Due to the lack of pancreatic and gastric enzymatic activity, the neutral pH of the nasal mucus, and reduced dilution by gastrointestinal contents, the nasal mucosa has been investigated as a viable delivery route to obtain faster and greater levels of drug absorption. Many medications have demonstrated greater systemic absorption when administered orally as opposed to nasally. Nasal therapy, also known as "NASAYA KARMA," is a recognised kind of treatment in the Ayurvedic systems of Indian medicine.
